CHURCH OF NIGERIA, ANGLICAN COMMUNION CONSECRATES THREE BISHOPS.

TODAY, all roads lead to All Saints Cathedral Church Onitsha in Anambra State for the consecraof three new Bishops for the Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion). It is heartwarming to note that the incumbent Bishop and the host of the consecration service, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo was also consecrated in this Cathedral in 2011. The chief host of this service is the new Dean of Church of Nigeria, the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province on the Niger and the Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Most Rev. Christian Efobi together with the incumbent Bishop will welcome the Primate of All Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh and his brother Bishops to this all-important consecration service. BISHOP OF ANGLICAN CHURCH, EGBA DIOCESE URGES PRESIDENT-ELECT TO AVOID OVER-BLOATED CABINET

The Bishop of Anglican Church, Egba Diocese, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Adekunle yesterday cautioned the in-coming administration not to fall into the temptation of putting in place an over bloated cabinet, all in the name of giving job to party faithful. The Cleric who spoke in Abeokuta advised the President-in-waiting, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari to ensure that only competent, honest and hardworking persons with track records are appointed into public offices, if his administration is to make the much expected difference. In doing this, he suggested, Buhari should look beyond party lines and loyalty in putting his team in place. Murder: Anglican Church tasks police to fish out killers of 2 missionaries

The Lokoja Diocese of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has urged the police to fish out those behind the killing of two of its members on April 7. The Bishop of Lokoja Province, Bishop Emmanuel  Egbunu, who made the call during a news conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, said that the church would not accept endless investigation into the murder. Egbunu said  that the police must come out with a specific outcome in time. He said that the victims, Mrs Lolo Alhassan, the General Manager, Kogi Investment and Property Company, and Mr Olugbenga Kekere, were on legitimate missionary work to Bassa Local Government when they were murdered at about 4 p.m. at Gboloko community by some unknown assailants. Church leaders urge reduction in cost of governance

ARCHBISHOP of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Bishop, Lagos Mainland, Most Rev. Adebayo Dada Akinde has called on the incoming government led by General Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the cost of governance is reduced at all levels.   The Archbishop, who spoke to journalists shortly after his Easter message on Sunday, noted that the cost of governance is becoming ridiculous in a developing country like Nigeria.While calling on political office holders to make sacrifices for the coming generations, Archbishop Akinde warned that on no account should they incur debt for Nigerians yet unborn. He also reminded politicians to bear in mind that the country is greater than any one and, as such, the unity cannot be compromised on a platter of gold. “There must be love for one another. Leadership and sacrifice, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ through His death on the Cross of Calvary, are virtues that are hard to find in the world. But these are crucial qualities that are urgently needed to make the society a better place for all to thrive and survive. As Nigerian Christians join others all over the world to celebrate Easter today, which incidentally coincides with the election period in the country, it is pertinent to wonder how much of these virtues the new leaders are ready to imbibe to impact positively on the Nigerian society. It was a carnival of sort. It was a gathering of people from all walks of life to pay last homage to a man that came, saw and conquered quietly. It was a celebration of life well spent and fulfilled. Indeed, it was the burial ceremony of the Godfather of Nigerian Journalism and renowned community leader, Pa Chukwuma Anueyiagu who recently passed on at 100. The day was sunny, the weather was clement and the atmosphere was very friendly. The pallbearers from the MIC Company were in their best element, displaying the well- decorated casket containing the remains of the late patriarch with the inscription Okeazu Vehicle movement was heavy and snarled. The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Bishop, Lagos Mainland, Most Rev. Adebayo Dada Akinde, has called on Nigerians, especially Christians to reflect on their lifestyles, values and relationship with God, more so, as they join their counterparts the world over to celebrate the risen Christ, tomorrow. In his Easter message to Nigerians, the Archbishop reminded Christians of the humility of Christ and His subjection to all the vicissitudes of life, including being tempted by the devil.
