Nicholas Okoh , has warned that the Federal Government should not think of legalising same-sex marriage in Nigeria, saying such would be totally rejected by the people. Okoh, who gave the warning yesterday when he led other bishops of the Communion to pay a courtesy call on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State at the Peoples’ House, Makurdi, said they were in the state for their bishops’ conference. In his remarks, Governor Ortom, who stated that it was not in the custom of Benue people, Nigerians or Africans to practise same-sex marriage, said Nigerians were believers of the Holy Bible, Koran or traditional worshipers and none of them would descend so low into accepting same-sex marriage. The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, political leaders, legislators and judges to resist all pressures and temptation to legalise gay marriage in Nigeria. Revd Simeon Borokini , has condemned United States of America (USA) for legalizing same-sex marriage and urged the new governments across the country to operate peoples oriented administration. On the same day the verdict was delivered in the law court, nine people that were killed at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church were being buried and President Barack Obama was there singing Amazing Grace. So, it is a betrayal of the water we’ve been drinking over a period from our forefathers. It’s either you believe in the Light and prosper or you believe in the darkness and you destroy your future. So, the whole world, including Nigeria should ignore America, if they want to live. But if they decide to toe America’s line in this ungodliness, it will be disastrous.

Rev. Adebola Ademowo, Bishop Emeritus of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has said that he knows President Muhammadu Buhari will do well in spite of the impatience among Nigerians. Ademowo made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday. The Diocesan ‎Bishop of Osun North East Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Otan Ayegbaju, Rev. Bamisebi Olumakaiye, has advised Governor Rauf Aregbesola, to stop sponsoring of Christians and Muslims on pilgrimages to Jerusalem and Mecca as one of the measures to plug loopholes through which state’s resources are lost. The cleric gave this advice in Otan Ayegbaju on Monday at the Pre synod press conference organised by the church. The bishop urged the governor to prioritise payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, saying the economy of the state depended on these payments. According to him, the nonpayment of salaries and pensions is having negative effects on everybody in the state including artisans and market women.
