The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, political leaders, legislators and judges to resist all pressures and temptation to legalise gay marriage in Nigeria. The Catholic bishops who expressed fear over the legalisation of gay marriage in the United State of America, following concerns by the current trend of same-sex-marriage, advised President Buhari to protect Nigerians from the growing and dangerous influence of lesbianism, gay, bisexual and transgender propaganda. President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev Ignatius Kaigama, who made this known yesterday on behalf of the bishops in a statement, described gay marriage as sad, unjust and a lamentable situation based largely upon a distorted perception of natural law, the will of God and human nature.
