Archbishop of Canterbury accused of hypocrisy by sexual abuse survivors

  Comments follow Justin Welby’s criticism of the BBC over its handling of the Jimmy Savile abuse cases Survivors of sexual abuse by Church of England figures have accused Justin Welby of “breathtaking hypocrisy” after the Archbishop of Canterbury criticised the BBC for the way it handled abuse by Jimmy Savile. Welby said the BBC had not shown the same integrity over accusations of child abuse that the Catholic and Anglican churches had. In a statement, six survivors of abuse by powerful church figures rejected Welby’s comments and said the record of the church and Welby himself was one of “silence, denial and evasion”.          PRIMATE OKOH INAUGURATE ANGLICAN CABLE NETWORK TV NEW BOARD. T he Primate of All Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Revd. Nicholas D. Okoh has charged the members of the newly constituted board of the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN TV) to lead the communion to a quality station which will make ACNN TV a household name in the country adding that the Lord is in need of it. He said this at the formal inauguration of a nine-man board for the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN) held at the Chapel of the Advent in the Primate’s office. According to him, the Church believes in quality this is more so that in October this year the Anglican Church will be 500 years old. F ormer Nigeria’s External Affairs Minister, Odein Ajumogobia, SAN, has been appointed the new Chancellor of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). T he Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Rev’d Nicholas Okoh, who presented and introduced the New Chancellor at the Third Day of the 12 th General Synod of the  A nglican Communion, holding at St Paul’s Cathedral, Port Harcourt, described Odein Ajumogobia as now ‘Minister of God.’ T he Primate also announced the election of Bishop of Diocese of Kwara, the Most Rev’d Olusegun Adeyemi as the New Archbishop of Kwara Province.
